About Me

I'm a professional artist based in North London and combine my love of art and animals with interior design.

My speciality is creating characterful and stylish pet portraits that work with your home's colour scheme and furnishings.

Pet art for heart and home!

I can match your bespoke artwork to any paint colour. So, for Farrow and Ball fans out there, if you want Elephant's Breath, I can give it to you!

What's Stanley saying to you?

Our furry friends have distinct personalities, emotion and thoughts that I love to reveal. This means spending time on the expression in your pet's eyes – a tiny tweak can speak volumes!

Ultimately, I aim to engage your pet and viewer in a dialogue, or create an air of mystery about what is happening just outside the painting.

I believe this is what transforms a mere copy of a photo into a piece of artwork.  As Francis Bacon once said, ‘The job of the artist is always to deepen the mystery.’

Materials for Longevity

I use high quality materials to ensure the

painting is archival and will last the test of time:

  • Liquitex or Golden Heavy Body Acrylic: Research is revealing acrylic to last longer than oil, and oil paintings have been around for 500 years! Unlike oil paint, acrylic is resistant to yellowing and cracking over time and much more resistant to fading.

  • Quality Panel or Stretched Canvas: I much prefer the feel, stability and longevity of panel  but happily paint on stretched canvas if this is your preference.

  • Windsor + Newton UV Satin Varnish: satin varnish has a slight sheen which adds a beautiful richness and depth to colours without a high shine.  I apply two coats to protect the painting from UV light and dust. If your preference is for a flat matt or gloss varnish, just let me know.

  • Care of your Painting: For longevity, paintings shouldn't be placed in an area of high humidity such as a bathroom or close to sink/ hob / kettle in a kitchen. Even though acrylic is much more resistant to fading,  it's also advisable not to place a painting in a permanent position of direct sunlight.
